Operation Market Garden was one of the most ambitious Allied offensives of the Second World War. Combining airborne troops with a rapid advance by ground forces, the Allies hoped to break through the Netherlands, cross the Rhine, reach Germany’s Ruhr industrial region, and bring the war to an end before Christmas 1944. What began as the largest airborne operation in military history soon became a heroic yet tragic campaign. From Joe’s Bridge to the Arnhem bridge, courage, determination and fierce fighting shaped the course of the operation. During this tour, we follow the story step by step of a plan that was as bold as it was risky—and ultimately failed.
